Aside from his breathtaking beauty, Scotty is a GOOD dog. He is obedient, anxious to please, to love and be loved. Scotty is up for anything. Want to watch TV and cuddle? He’s your boy! Go for a brisk walk, or a ride in the car? He’s in! Shopping at the home improvement store? He loves it! - as long as he’s with you. He’s also just as happy to curl up by your feet while you’re on the computer.
Scotty came to us as an owner-surrender by amateur breeders. They had given us his sister a few months prior, and were impressed with our organization and professionalism. When we saw what they had brought us, we gave a resounding YES. Unfortunately, Scotty had quite a bit of deferred maintenance to catch up on, so we set about getting him spiffed up with “The Works”.- neuter, a badly needed dental, vaccines, lumps and bumps removed, a spa grooming, and now he’s good as new!
Except for a dignified dusting of white on his snout, you’d never guess Scotty’s age. He’s full of energy and loves to have fun with the puppies in his foster home. Scotty sleeps comfortably in his cushy dog bed. He hasn’t asked to come into the big bed yet. He currently sleeps in the bedroom, but will comply with wherever you put his bed. He’s that easy-going.
Scotty wasn’t exactly housetrained when he came into rescue - we suspect that he stayed outside. But, he’s learned quickly. He now takes himself outside through the dog door and understands that this makes us happy. This reinforcement will need to be continued in his forever home.
Scotty is friendly to everyone he meets - human or canine - with no reservation. We haven’t observed him with a cat, but he’d probably be kind to the kitty. That’s who he is.
The thing that Scotty has been deprived of all these years is attention and love. He drinks it up and gives it back tenfold.
It will be a lucky adopter indeed, who gets to take this fabulous boy home. It’s been our pleasure to have him in our foster care, and it will be hard to let him go. We know we can find that extra-special home (YOUR home) that will appreciate what a gem he is. The next chapter in Scotty’s life will make up for the previous one.
Scotty’s vaccines are up-to-date, he’s been microchipped, and his teeth cleaned. If you think Scotty can be a great new addition to your family, please contact Roberta at email@example.com. An adoption application and home check are required.

George Bailey (4494)
Age: 4 months
Color: Red w/White Markings
Size: Mini – 7.5 lbs. and growing
George Bailey was a surprise Christmas Eve rescue, but we assured him It’s a Wonderful Life! His family moved away, and left George to fend for himself on the street. A concerned neighbor called us, and we took him in immediately.
George is THE CUTEST chiweenie puppy in Tucson. He is smart and funny. He figured out the dog door and bed steps by watching the other dogs in his foster home. His potty training is a work in progress, but he's still a baby and will get there. His longer legs give him an advantage in a home with stairs. We think he'll top out at 8 to 10 pounds.
George sleeps curled up against his foster mom's belly, but will go to sleep in the crate after his obligatory protest has been duly noted. He likes to go out and about, but will be protective if someone comes too close. This is the time to train him out of that.
At home, George is all cuddles and kisses. He's always hungry and needs frequent small feedings while he's growing. At “wild-puppy-hour” he needs another young dog to chase him, or his person to throw the ball for him. Everything is a toy to George, although, thankfully, he shows no interest in shoes.
The ideal home for George would have the following attributes:
Someone at home most of the day, stay-at-home moms/dads or folks who work from home.
Previous dachshund experience is a plus.
MUST have another dog for play and companionship (preferably a female 2 to 3 years old).
A very secure INDOOR place for George to be when no one is at home.
Applicants must be between 30 and 65 years of age.
No infants or toddlers, please, but we will consider families with children over 8 years old.
George has received all his vaccines, has been neutered, and is microchipped. Families that have a home with a back yard and a dog door are encouraged to apply for George.
If you are interested in George, please contact Roberta at firstname.lastname@example.org. A home check and an adoption application are required.
The tax deductible donation for George is $300.00
